I beat that game on N64 at least half a dozen times in preparation for my MASTER quest that I was sent on by my friend way back in 1999.
I was told that if I could beat all 3 dungeons and all 5 temples without being struck once, I could go to 3 special locations and play 3 special songs to receive the pieces of the triforce, take them to the temple of time, and create the triforce which would restore Hyrule, banish Ganon, and provide an alternate ending to the game.Everyone remembers this myth. Fun times, back before the internet was ripe with information and we got magazines for gaming news.Anyway, just for fun, I have been working on this on and off for the past 15 years, because every time I got hit, I would immediately turn the system off and back on again to reload my game and continue.

I have easily put 50 hours into this quest of mine in the name of this (false) prophesy.I have a son who is now 9. He just discovered the game a few weeks ago and has been playing on his own account while his 6 year old brother watches him play.
They are half way through Dodongo's Cavern outside Goron City.Today, they decided to sneak a peak at my 'LINK' save game while I was away to see some spoilers. I was almost done the Fire temple, so I was in the temple. They admired my matured character, my equipment, and all my achievements. They checked out the 'level' I was on, and, after getting hit a few times, they paused to look at more equipment. Then they saved. He did not want me to lose all the progress I had made on my 'special save game' because he thought it would make me start the whole game over. Now I actually do have to start the whole game over.edit People seem to think this is about the myth itself.
This post is about the story of my struggle and having my quest interrupted by a 9 year old boy trying to sincerely help. I thought it was funny and would make some of you smile. Maybe you don't have kids. Thanks for trying to make me feel bad, though!
That's awesome! It was an emotional experience for me and I got a bunch of responses (all the same) that were not only unexpected, but off the mark. I should have been more clear when I wrote my original post about what the point of it was. Also, it's a lot easier for people to be harsh on the internet, I often forget.
When I told the story to my brother, my wife, and a couple of friends, they responded with 'aww:(' followed by laughter because they appreciated the humor of the situation.I don't mean to go on and on, I'm just explaining my apology. I guess I'm being defensive. Sorry for that too.Carry on:).
Hey its all good, there was never any malicious intent behind my comments. I fell for the rumors back then and still want them to be true. On the subject of people being harsh, it happens. It can be difficult to express what you mean in text ( especially on the Internet ) and not sound harsh. I will admit, your story did take me back to when I was a kid and tried every single rumor there was to get the triforce and even though none of them were true I still had a blast believing the next rumor was true and going for it.
